It was just over two years ago that I awoke in the middle of the night, and penned somewhat of a monologue, titled “Can you see me now?”

[Read that post here]

It was a piece inspired by the experience of many of our mamma’s, but truthfully a largely Cathartic experience of sharing what I knew, with my peers, who I felt were somewhat sheltered to the reality of so many women in the country.

At the time, our Facebook page had under 100 ‘likes’, all of whom were close friends and family.

It was the first time I had ever shared a piece of my heart writing with anyone. I remember writing the piece between 2am and 3am, not editing it closing my computer, making myself coffee and continuing with my day. Totally unexpectant.

What happened next blew my mind, as the piece grew a life of its own. Suddenly, The Maletsatsi Foundation pages had a few thousand followers and it felt like a ‘real’ organisation!

From self funded under the radar, we had an audience of people engaging in our work. Little did anyone know at the time but it was the exact motivation I needed to keep going, personally, emotionally, and very much in terms of ramping up our ability to be of assistance.

Why am I sharing this? Well quite simply because that post, and the few thousand likes it got our page, leading up to the five thousand of you now, are the sum total of what has financially got us to where we are today.

You have carried us for two years.

Every single donation we’ve received to date has been throughout social media following in way shape of form.

Which is MIND BLOWING to me. My gratitude is overflowing.

I am but one person. A mamma. There is not a team of designers or content creators behind me. There is not fundraising team. My only weapon is YOU, our insanely wonderful supporters.

The reality is that the burden of our finances are becoming too much for the 5000 to handle.

And each month we’re needing to ask for more and more.

The cost of living is skyrocketing.

The cost of supporting our home is eye watering.

We need to ask a different favour of you today: Help us grow our audience so that we can share the load.

It’s the only way we see forward. If 5000 on Facebook can indirectly hold us for two years, just imagine why another 5000 on LinkedIn could do.

So today, we ask that if you have gained any insight, inspiration, education, perspective or enjoyment out of our content and record of life, we ask that you join hands with us and get everyone you know to ‘like and share’ our page and content…it’s our ticket to engaging the village on the larger scale we know we need!
